If there is a dealer involved, the title fee is a flat $8.25 as of Jan. 1, 2017.
Sales tax rate for trailers is 6.875%. Buyer’s premium must be included in the sales tax.
If there is a lien card, the lien card must be with the title in order to sell the vehicle. The lien holder will be listed on the top left-hand side of the title.
If the trailer is coming from out of state and does not have a title, the seller has to write up a bill of sale and both the seller and the buyer need to sign the form. The form states that the trailer from “X” state is 3,000 pounds or less and does not require registration in that state.
If the trailer is registered and needs a permanent sticker (due to being lost, damaged, etc) duplicate permanent registration stickers are $2.50
If there is a MSO (manufactured state of origin or manufactured certificate of origin) for the trailer the buyer and seller will sign the back of the MSO and the buyer will sign a PS2000 form on the buyer’s signature line.

- No lien attached to trailer - If a lien is against the trailer, the original owner must title with State in their name before selling.

If the trailer is not titled and no registration card is available (MN Seller), the seller and buyer must sign a PS2000 form. The seller signs on the seller’s signature line and the buyer signs on the buyer’s signature line. (The trailer must be in the seller’s name)
